Position Overview

Sports Physiotherapist – Paddle

Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) is seeking a qualified Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist for a contract role based on the Gold Coast. The role supports National Training Centre (NTC) athletes and coaches across all Paddle Australia High Performance Programs, as well as QAS Paddle Program. The successful candidate will be the primary physiotherapy point of contact for two High Performance programs, working at Pizzey Park and affiliated training facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop professional and effective working relationships with athletes, coaches, and QAS and National support staff.
  • Provide timely handovers to medical and health staff when indicated and maintain close collaboration with Senior QAS Paddle Physiotherapist and PA Strength & Conditioning staff.
  • Facilitate early diagnosis and management of injury presentations in partnership with the Medical Doctor, and support rehabilitation and maintenance of fitness levels.
  • Attend on-water and gym-based training sessions to nurture athlete and coach connections, collaboration and early intervention strategies.
  • Develop sport-specific technical knowledge and identify movement patterns that positively impact paddle performance or increase injury risk.
  • Contribute relevant information into Athlete Performance Plans to reflect athlete performance and health goals.
  • Attend performance support meetings with the High Performance Director and Performance Support & Innovation Manager to provide guidance around athlete health and proactive measures to improve performance.
Essential Requirements
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Current Provide/Perform CPR.
  • Sports Medicine / Physiotherapy / Allied Health Degree.
  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check.
  • ABN and current Public Liability & Indemnity Insurance.
  • Ethical supplier Threshold.
  • Experience working with elite athletes embedded in high-performance systems/professional sports.
  • Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration.
  • APA Titled Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist through completion of a Post Graduate Master’s degree in Sports Physiotherapy or equivalent, or the Experiential Titling Pathway.

Salary and Engagement

Contract role – daily rate $580 to $640 (Ex GST).
