About the Role

A professional football club competing in USL League One is seeking an ambitious and experienced Head Coach to lead its first team and play a key role in the continued development of the club.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading all aspects of the first-team football programme, including coaching, player development, tactical preparation, recruitment and performance, while creating a positive and professional environment that aligns with the club's long-term vision.

This is an exciting opportunity for a coach looking to make a significant impact within the growing American professional football landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the first team across training sessions, competitive matches and preseason programmes.

• Develop and implement a clear playing philosophy and tactical identity.

• Plan and deliver high-quality training sessions.

• Manage match preparation, tactical analysis and matchday strategy.

• Develop players individually and collectively to maximise their potential.

• Work closely with the Sporting Director and technical staff on roster construction and recruitment.

• Identify and evaluate potential players in collaboration with the recruitment department.

• Conduct opposition analysis and utilise video/performance data to support decision-making.

• Build a strong team culture based on professionalism, accountability and high performance.

• Manage and develop the coaching and technical staff.

• Support the progression of younger and emerging players into the first team.

• Represent the club professionally within the local community and wider football environment.

• Work collaboratively with academy, scouting, performance and front-office departments.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

• Proven experience coaching at a professional or high-level competitive environment.

• Strong knowledge of modern football coaching methodologies and tactical principles.

• A demonstrated record of player development.

• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.

• Experience managing a first-team environment.

• The ability to build and maintain a strong team culture.

• Excellent understanding of player recruitment and squad building.

• Ability to work effectively with a Sporting Director and wider technical department.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Willingness to work evenings, weekends and travel as required.

Coaching Qualifications

• USSF A License, UEFA A License or equivalent professional coaching qualification preferred.

• USSF B License, UEFA B License or equivalent qualifications will also be considered.

• Higher-level professional coaching qualifications will be viewed favourably.

• International candidates with relevant professional coaching experience are encouraged to apply.
