Fellow – Sports Cardiology

Part time, 0.8 FTE, fixed term from February 2027 until February 2028. Located at Fitzroy. Requires RACP part 1 exams and completion of three core years of RACP‑approved training in cardiology or equivalent. Ongoing training and development opportunities available. Pro‑active and supportive leadership.

About the Role
  • Assist with day‑to‑day clinical care and management of patients undergoing sports cardiology assessment.
  • Assist in clinical Sports Cardiology Clinic services.
  • Assist in research and teaching related to sports cardiology.
  • Provide clinical care for allocated patients and help set standards for high‑quality clinical practice within the department.
  • Use resources responsibly, considering patient priority and need.
  • Ensure prompt communication with other relevant clinicians and health‑care providers.
  • Perform other clinical duties as directed by the Head of the National Centre for Sports Cardiology.

Classifications for this position will range from HM25 to HM30, salary pro‑rata for part‑time between $129,048.40 and $177,622.12.

Your Contribution
  • MBBS or equivalent.
  • RACP part1 exams and completion of three core years of RACP‑approved training in cardiology or equivalent.
  • Registration with AHPRA.
  • Current national criminal history check, or willingness to obtain one.

About the Cardiology Department

The Cardiology Department at StVincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, is a busy tertiary referral unit that provides diagnosis, consultation, and intervention across all areas of cardiology. The echocardiography laboratory performs transthoracic, stress, and trans‑oesophageal echocardiography using state‑of‑the‑art digital equipment, including contrast, 3D echocardiography, and myocardial deformation assessment. Echocardiography supports the structural heart disease program and the hospital also offers cardiac MRI and CT coronary angiography services. StVincent’s Hospital is a leading teaching, research and tertiary health service that operates across Fitzroy, Kew and Truganina sites.
