Kim Evans
Operations Manager Currently in Zimbabwe
With a twelve-year career encompassing sports event management and delivery, the marketing of sports assets and events, and public relations communications in progressive roles, noteworthy and highly relevant to your role is my two years (2014 – 2016) as the Personal Assistant to Gideon Sam, the President/Sports Administrator of the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) in South Africa. Mr Sam was and is now an Honorary Life Vice President of the Commonwealth Games Federation.   M y exposure to the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games may prove interesting. Along with other day-to-day responsibilities, I had the opportunity to escort Mr Sam to numerous VIP and games family areas at stadiums and arenas assisting him in his dealings as Vice President including medal ceremonies and part of the Formal Welcoming Committee to the Royal Family and Prince Albert II of Monaco.   During these games, I gained a great deal of knowledge and understanding of the Commonwealth Games and became very familiar with the games hotel and its workings.   Together with the 2014 Commonwealth Games I successfully undertook executive management of the Congo 2015 African Games, SA Sports Awards 2014, South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee/South African Local Government Association (SASCOC/SALGA) Conference, and the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) General Assembly in 2014.   Along with this experience, I attended the ANOCA General Assembly as a Personal Assistant to the CEO and the 2015 African Games as Personal Assistant to the President. Of interest is my period as PR Account Manager with PUMA South Africa | Splash PR South Africa and working with Usain Bolt at the PUMA School of Speed event in Johannesburg.   I was his handler for the day, escorting him to media interviews, making introductions to representatives of local government and looking after his general movements throughout the day.  Adept at event campaign planning, delivery and management, I am efficient in a support role and collaborate effectively and positively both in-organization and with outside stakeholders.   Experienced in strategic and operational plans implementation and compliance with standard policy, systems and procedures, I have an ability to work through plans and activities from lead-up to follow-through of major events.   Excellent diplomacy and interpersonal communication skills both in writing and orally with diverse individuals allow me to work very efficiently at all levels.   A good administrator with planning, analysis and risk management skills ensures that reporting and mitigation are effective.   Working in high-pressure environments in my career has proved to be no obstacle, with my determination, tenacity and broad picture approach winning the day.   I hold a Bachelor of Commerce degree and various relevant sports-related and other qualifications.   I am mobile and able to relocate, in possession of a valid British Passport.

I have over 11 years of leadership experience in the sports industry, planning and implementing a wide range of successful events and projects.  I am a sociable team player and have developed strong partnerships with GB athletes, corporate businesses, volunteers, and national governing bodies to deliver initiatives in support of the Olympic legacy.  My roles in delivering these events have varied: from initiating event ideas, to managing the necessary administration such as putting together athletes’ schedules, managing databases and the financial budgets. I am also a successful fundraiser, having raised around £30,000 for athletes and schools over a 2 year period.      Since starting at GB Active 5 years ago, I have been organising multiple bootcamps.  These regular training sessions have offered opportunities for GB athletes to bring their skills and inspiration to the community.  Alongside the bootcamps, I have delivered more bespoke events, such as arranging kayaking experiences for the public with a world class kayaker, or bringing some inspiring sporting stories and athlete-delivered activities to over 100 people at a city bank’s wellbeing day.  Before GB Active, I arranged workshops across the country bringing over 20 GB athletes to around 300 schools.  I managed the logistical details of these events, mapping out travel and accommodation, and capturing data to efficiently analyse the feedback in order to adapt our services.  I also liaised with government public health programmes, as Change For life, to ensure our messaging was aligned.   I currently volunteer with the England Touch Rugby Association, remotely coordinating sports development officers in the South East region of the UK. This has involved communicating closely with the six voluntary development officers on a regular basis to plan, assess and adapt strategic outlines on developing touch rugby in schools. During my time so far, I have extended the programme from secondary schools to primary schools by developing operational and training programmes for rugby workshops, competitions and events.  Over my career I have accumulated considerable insight into the workings of the sports industry and have developed detailed experience in the administrative functions of running successful events. I am really keen to apply these skills to a new role, supporting and being part of a sociable team on delivering projects, programmes or events.  I attach my resume for your consideration. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss the role further and how my skills can help.
