Job Description

Western Leisure Services (WLS) is a Local Government Business Enterprise established to manage three leisure facilities in Wyndham City - AquaPulse, Eagle Stadium and the Werribee Outdoor Pool.  The Wyndham City Council is the sole shareholder and WLS operates independently of Council through a Board of Directors.  Wyndham has experienced the largest and fastest growth in all Victorian local government areas and is the fourth fastest growing in Australia.

We employ a wide range of people, but they all have one thing in common; the energy and passion to build healthy lives! We are looking for a Casual Lifeguards and Leading Lifeguards to share our passion for people, believe in delivering unrivalled service and thrive under pressure.

Reporting to the Aquatic Operations Coordinator, the duties of this role include but are not limited to;

  • Providing adequate supervision to ensure the safety of all users of the aquatic facilities
  • Carrying out intervention and preventative action to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons, the facility and equipment
  • Ensuring that the Supervision Deployment plan is adhered to and assist in the management of duties on pool deck whilst maintain safety
  • Identifying and respond to any emergency and complete the relevant incident report
  • Providing outstanding customer service and educate facility users about safe aquatic practices
  • Providing feedback and make recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Promoting and enforce appropriate behaviour standards
  • Operating and supervise water slides and aqua play area
  • The allocation of lane space
  • Pool water tests
  • Maintenance and cleaning duties
  • Additional duties as required
  • Reporting of incidents and hazards
  • Ensuring high levels of cleanliness and tidiness in and around each pool
  • Assisting in pool set up / pack up requirements


Skills and Experience:

  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Practised and efficient communication skills with culturally and linguistically diverse communities
  • Commitment to safety, service and innovation
  • Ability to identify and raise possible hazards and risks within aquatic facility
  • Efficient decision making and ability to perform dynamic risk assessments with the highest safety standards in mind.
  • Confidence to enforce appropriate behaviour standards of guests
  • Communicate in a friendly and professional manner
  • SISSS00111 Pool Lifeguard qualification (willingness to obtain)
  • HLTAID003 Provide First Aid Certificate (willingness to obtain)
  • HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (willingness to obtain)
  • Capable of completing a rescue and recovery to a depth of 2.1m (a test on this will be provided prior to employment)
  • Clearance from a Working with Children Check and National Police Check (willingness to obtain)
  • Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination in line with Public Health Orders
