Director of Financial Planning and Analysis - Arizona Cardinals (Tempe, AZ)
Summary: Under the direct supervision of the CFO, the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis will be responsible for the long-term projected financial statements, cash flows, and analysis of current financial results.  The candidate will need to play a significant role in long-term planning, including initiatives geared toward operational excellence, act as ambassador and liaison for the Finance department, with other Arizona Cardinals departments, stadium entities, and the League while advancing a culture of excellence and a positive, passionate, and creative work environment.
Other duties as assigned.
 
Specific Job Duties Include:
1.     Participate in the month-end close process by providing entries.
2.     Prepare the internal financial statements with profit and loss variance analysis for the Club management.
3.     Reconcile and report on monthly activity data, generate year-end reports and presentations on club performance.  This includes various internal and external reports related to revenue sources and player costs.
4.     Track player contract transactions for accounting and payroll purposes, prepare annual player bonus rollforward reports, player cash flow timing, player free agency and draft transactions, and work with Director of Football Administration on proposed player cash budgets.
5.     Prepare and maintain 5-year projected cash flow and profit and loss statement for multiple scenarios based on requirements provided by the CFO.  These reports are used internally and by the League office.  These projections are maintained in multiple database modules and require significant Excel expertise.
 
Qualifications/Requirements:
·         Skills in business operations, process improvement, strategic planning, leadership, budget management, project management, and staffing management
·         Effectively implement strategic planning initiatives, use analytical thinking to make critical decisions, and solve real-world business problems
·         Ability to handle workload demands as the standards increase in complexity and constant expansion
·         Must be able to handle extremely high-stress situations and timelines that sometimes require rigorous work schedules 
·         A strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles 
·         A strong background in accounting, business, and economics
·         High proficiency with PC operating systems and Microsoft Office Software
·         Advanced knowledge of database software
·         Substantial client relationship skills and leadership skills in a high-stress environment
·         Ability to multi-task and troubleshoot in a high stress, fast-paced work environment
·         Excellent communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail
·         Must be detail-oriented and highly self-motivated with a shared commitment to excellence
 
Education: A bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (or equivalent experience) and a CPA or MBA.
 
Experience: Minimum 8 years of accounting, leadership, and management experience, with a minimum of 5 years performing financial planning function.
