Job Title: Digital Content Manager
Department: Corporate Communications
Reporting To: Director – Corporate Communications (initially)
Hours: 35 hours per week / Mon – Fri (9am to 5pm)
Location: St Andrews - a mixture of home and office working will be considered for this role

Job Purpose
The R&A runs professional championships including The Open, The Senior Open and the AIG Women’s Open, elite amateur events, international matches and rankings. The R&A, through R&A Rules Ltd, governs the sport worldwide, outside of the United States and Mexico, on behalf of over 36 million golfers in 144 countries and with the consent of 158 organisations from amateur and professional golf. The R&A is at the forefront in modernising the sport and making it more relevant to today’s society.

The R&A’s purpose is to make golf more accessible, appealing and inclusive and to ensure it is thriving 50 years from now.

The Corporate Communications team is responsible for telling the story of The R&A and what it does to grow and support golf around the world. Our talented team leads on communications for the organisation across its work in governance, championships, including The Open and the AIG Women's Open, and growing participation in both traditional media and the digital space. The team oversees the R&A brand and helps drive a range of campaigns to support the organisation's strategic objectives.

As The R&A embarks on a new five year strategy, a host of exciting new initiatives are emerging and a vacancy has arisen within the Corporate Communications team for an innovative and dynamic Digital Content Manager to join our growing team.

Job Description
Role and Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver The R&A's multi-channel strategy utilising our digital platforms and productions to build and retain owned audiences.
- Plan, produce, package and publish the highest standards of video, image and editorial content across The R&A's digital channels.
- Take the day-to-day lead on supervising content on the new R&A website ensuring it is presented consistently across the website and social media.
- Develop and implement content plans for key R&A championships, governance and development initiatives.
- Work as part of the digital teams at The Open and the AIG Women's Open.
- Manage The R&A social media channels and liaise with our external agency to source outstanding content.
- Work with colleagues in the Corporate Communications team and external agencies to deliver content and productions supporting R&A campaigns and activations.
- Ensure that all digital content is consistent with The R&A brand and values and supports its mission to sustain a prosperous long-term future for golf.
- Identify new opportunities for innovation and monitor industry trends to ensure the channels keep pace with the latest approaches.
- Monitor and analyse performance metrics and provide reporting against agreed objectives to ensure optimisation of the channels.
- Benchmark The R&A digital channels with sport industry best practice, maintain their profile within the industry and ensure they receive appropriate external recognition.
- Co-ordinate content delivery with all media announcements and lead on producing informative and engaging supporting assets.
- Liaise with other R&A departments to manage their digital requirements and maintain a content schedule to keep them informed of workflows and activation timings.
- Work with the wider team to support the delivery of the communications elements of the new five year-strategy.
- Support The R&A's internal communications programme through sharing of content and co-ordinating activity where appropriate.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Significant experience of working in a digital content role.
- Strong experience of working with CMS and of managing and training others in using these systems.
- Excellent knowledge of content production across all social media platforms.
- Steeped In SEO and ensuring content is effectively presented and surfaced.
- Well versed in building and retaining audiences across all digital channels.

Desirable
- Experienced in video production and editing.
- Experience of working in a communications and/or media
- News sense - knowing what makes a story and what is the best medium to tell it through.
- Ability to innovate and identify new opportunities.
- Adept at analysing performance metrics and data to improve results.
- A passion for sport and golf in particular.

Other Information
The role is St Andrews-based but will require attendance at championships and events throughout the UK and overseas.
The normal duties will be a 35 hour working week but the role will require occasional weekend and out of hours work patterns.
