The Role

The Aquatic Services Coordinator works closely with the Centre Manager, Assistant Centre Manager and Director of Swimming to ensure the provision of swimming programs are aligned with business needs, customer expectations and safety standards. In addition to class scheduling, swim teacher rostering and administration, the position holder is also required to build high levels of member retention and engagement, employ and retain high calibre staff, and contribute to profitable Swim School outcomes.

Accountabilities

  • Fostering a positive and fun environment for Swim School participants, teachers and carers 
  • Conducting daily opening and closing inspections of swimming areas and equipment to ensure they are always clean and safe 
  • Ensuring appropriate reporting procedures are followed e.g., injuries and near-misses 
  • Ensuring swim instructors always have appropriate mandatory qualifications, and are conducting safe, positive and motivating swimming classes around a structured program 
  • Promoting Swim School programs and services  
  • Conducting regular team meetings, and developing ideas for new swimming programs and initiatives, including those for people with disabilities, and those aged over 55 
  • Developing partnerships with local schools, childcare centres and community groups to ensure swimming programs are available across age and ability levels 
  • Working with the Director of Swimming to recruit and induct new swimming teachers, and provide ongoing coaching, development and training (at least 6 workshops each year) 
  • Managing the LINKS Database and ensuring swim teachers are trained to use it 
  • Managing and tracking Swim School enquiries, sales and targets (daily, weekly and monthly)  
  • Working within the centre’s Learn to Swim (LTS) budget, and reporting on financial performance, including gross profit margin and total swim school enrolments  
  • Providing regular reports to the Director of Swimming, including opportunities and concerns. 

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated understanding of swim schools and their ability to grow students into competitive swimmers.
  • Previous team leader experience and ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Strong administration skills and experience using Links Modular Solution Software
  • Sound knowledge of swimming industry practices, teaching and coaching principles
  • Proven interpersonal and negotiation skills including ability to liaise with students and parents
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build program participation through social media, face-to-face interaction and overall member experience
  • Familiarity with work health and safety (WHS) legislation.
