With the appointment of new head Coach, Phil Blake, for 2022/2023 seasons - the future vision is to develop a Marlins hub, with gym, offices and rehab facilities in one location that can be accessed by all of our players from Juniors through to our First Grade Marlins and Mermaid players. Accordingly, we are offering volunteer/internship placement for UNI student or Level 1/2 S&C Coach in the role of "Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach" for the 2022 season - gaining invaluable experience working with junior and senior level teams under the guidance of Head of High Performance/Strength and Conditioning - CoachCollins - working within a gym, on field conditioning, and match day environment.
If you are a UNI student requiring placement or a graduate seeking professional experience and strong desire to be involved in sports performance and want to pursue a career as a Strength and Conditioning professional this role is for you. Committment is required for the season starting mid October 2021 (based upon Government Covid Guidelines) until the finals in early September 2022
Roles and Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Assisting with the delivery and program design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs and training sessions - junior, colts and senior grades - both pre-season and in-season
Player fitness testing in the gym and on the field (that may include GPS and data collection and analysis).
Player and team warm-up and fitness sessions
Assisting return to play program for injured players
Maintenance of strength and conditioning facility and equipment.
Level 1 or 2 ASCA Strength and Conditioning Certification
UNI STUDENT: Human Movement/ Exercise and Sports Science / Exercise Physiogist/ Sports Coaching / PDHPE degree
Working with Children Check clearance
Senior First Aid
PLEASE NOTE: Pre-season training varies between morning gym sessions (5.30am-8.30am) and evening (6pm-8pm) Mon-Fri and Saturday morning sessions/Game day. Full committment is required across the season. Thus the ability to committ to such times and train on location in Manly area is essential linked to Colts or Senior Program
