Personal Best Education has been providing expert educational, sports and activities services to the public since 2012. Our aims are to give individuals of all age-groups and backgrounds the opportunity to achieve the best they can and make a positive impact on themselves, their community and the wider world. This exciting and diverse role is required to drive the commercial growth and portfolio of Personal Best’s sports and activities coaching provision. Personal Best has initiated the implementation of a new and ambitious growth strategy for the next three-five years, aimed at broadening its provision to achieve the challenging organisational goals to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of the business. The Sports & Activities Manager role will be focused on expanding Personal Best’s current portfolio and expertise as well as developing new propositions through partnerships, clubs, classes, and more. There will be a strong focus on strategy, business development and innovative new provision encompassing both funded and commercial streams.

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Establish a dynamic, market-leading and profitable Sports and Activities Coaching Business Unit • Formulate, implement and deliver a robust, ambitious and innovative strategy to significantly grow revenues and broaden the portfolio of provision • Manage a pool of coaching instructors and source new recruits to backfill knowledge/skills/experience gaps to facilitate achieving of the strategic plan • Manage budgets effectively to ensure a positive financial contribution to the organisation is made at all times • Identify new opportunities and maintain up-to-date knowledge of coaching trends, competitors and general news relevant to the Personal Best Sports & Activities Coaching portfolio through regularly carrying out market insight activities • Manage current network of clients and partners as well as cultivate new partnerships to maximise the reach of the Personal Best Sports & Activities Coaching proposition and impact of the brand • Lead on developing new sports and activities provision to meet market needs and anticipate new trends to tap into future demand • Draw up a dynamic commercial activity plan to maximise revenue potential of current provision and partners as well as successfully identify and launch new propositions • Ensure excellent delivery standards and accreditation/regulatory requirements are met at all times through maintaining a strong CPD training plan for all coaches • Produce monthly reports on performance with KPIs (as agreed with MD) of Sports & Activities Coaching provision – P&L, operational etc.
Qualifications and Education • Must hold a minimum of 5 x GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade A-C including Maths and English • Must be educated to degree level or hold a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role/field • Possess a recognised coaching qualification
Skills, Knowledge and Experience • Experience in delivery of coaching and strong understanding of best practices and techniques as well as good market knowledge • Good knowledge of national curriculum of PE in schools and broader sports & activities coaching sector, both funded & commercial • Experience in developing and successfully delivering a commercial strategy • Experience of managing budgets and building costing models • Experience of working with diverse key stakeholders, both internal and external, and negotiating contracts/agreements e.g. clients, suppliers etc. • Excellent organisational, planning, decision-making and negotiation skills • Effective resource, cost and people management skills • Solid understanding of quality assurance and experience of working within frameworks e.g. contractual/regulatory/legislative • Experience of working within the education and/or leisure activity sectors • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Competency in using IT systems (Microsoft office, Google Suite etc.)
