Job Description

The Fremantle Rowing Club is looking for a self driven sponsorship, corporate engagement and event manager to help meet the commercial objectives of the organisation, as well as planning and running key fundraising events and professional development courses.

This is a 6 month fixed term contract with the intention of extension into an ongoing position by meeting key KPI’s. The positions is 0.5 FTE

About the club

The Fremantle Rowing Club is located in the foreshore precinct in East Fremantle. The club operates all year round with programs running for juniors, seniors, masters, Australian nationals, and the WAIS Talent ID program. The club also has a range of social members who primarily use our gym. The club is one of the most successful in the State, winning the 2019 Rowing Australia, Rowing Club of the year award.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is

  • Self directed
  • Driven
  • Experienced with creating sponsorship packages
  • Great at making and sustaining partnerships with corporates
  • Able to successfully communicate both orally and in writing with corporations
  • Experienced in organising events or has great project management skills

In this role you will:

  • Create sponsorship and corporate packages
  • Recruit new sponsors and corporate partners to the club
  • Manage and create benefits for our sponsors, both existing and new
  • Revitalise the Corporate Challenge event
  • Develop and implement bespoke professional development packages targeted at companies and corporations.
  • Find sponsors for our 4 main events
    • The Perth to Fremantle Head Race Regatta
    • The WA indoor rowing championships
    • Annual quiz night
    • The Great Indoor Rowing Relay
  • Organise and event manage the annual quiz night
  • Organise and event manage other fundraising events

To be successful in this position you will bring:

  • Experience in cultivating, engaging and nurturing key stakeholders within a business or sporting group to achieve commercial outcomes.
  • Proven capability in identifying, approaching, negotiating and securing new opportunities that have secure income.
  • Experience in developing engaging and successful proposals.
  • A mature approach with highly developed communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining networks.
  • Demonstrated sponsorship or corporate engagement experience and success
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience in project management or event management
  • Self direction & drive to achieve
  • A strategic and holistic approach to your work


This is a part time role of 0.5 FTE with a salary of $37,500 (pro rata of $75,000) + Superannuation.


We are flexible with location and are happy for WFH for the right candidate. We also have office space available in the Fremantle CBD, which will be beneficial to use for the first 12 weeks, as this will provide close contact with members of the board.


We are seeking someone with a minimum of 3-5 years in a similar role, someone who can hit the ground running and bring with them a wealth of experience to develop and drive the role.

Future potential of the role

As a community club we need to ensure that this position is economically viable, as we want to make this a continuing position within the club. This will be a direct consequence of the success of this initial 6 month contract.

As such we will be providing revenue KPI’s that will need to be met for the continuation of this position.
