Serve as primary team writer for DetroitRedWings.com, including game previews and recaps
Serve as the sports & entertainment group’s primary copywriter/proofreader, reviewing marketing communications copy for accuracy and consistency
Manage DetroitRedWings.com editorial content calendar, including hockey and business communications initiatives
Attend and engage in daily, in-season press conference and media availabilities with Red Wings players, coaches and front office staff
Produce stories to amplify team coverage during Training Camp and Development Camp, and for the NHL Entry Draft, free agency, All Star Game, etc.
Write feature stories for digital playbill, the official Red Wings gameday publication
During the Red Wings’ offseason, produce feature stories for the Detroit Tigers digital playbill and the annual yearbook
Produce web stories for DistrictDetroit.com, highlighting community initiatives in the sports & entertainment corridor
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations or similar field
1-3 years of experience in writing and/or editing for a newspaper or digital publication
Highly proficient in AP style and all Microsoft programs
Outstanding written and verbal communications, organizational skills, and ability to deal with deadlines, changing priorities and time sensitive issues
Must be flexible to work irregular hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays
Occasional travel required, including possible team functions
