The YMCA Bridge Project aims to support young people, and adults, to make positive changes to their lives and reduce the likelihood of offending or reoffending, through social and economic engagement in both custodial centres and in communities. The Bridge Project does this through employment, education & training and sport and recreation services.

About the role 

As the Program Leader, you will aim to provide the prisoner population at Ravenhall Correctional Centre (RCC) with positive and meaningful social experiences, as well as increasing and improving participation in structured and meaningful healthy activities to improve and promote prisoner engagement, health and wellness. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing new and innovative programs, special events and other related opportunities for the men at RCC.  

You will also be responsible for building and maintaining positive and supportive relationships with Ravenhall Correctional Centre contract partner, GEO Group and Alliance Partner staff and management. This casual position will require you to work a rotating roster which includes weekends.

About you 

To be successful in the position, you will have:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a capacity to relate well and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • High levels of initiative and an ability to work with limited supervision
  • An intermediate level of computer literacy
  • Proven experience in sport and recreation program delivery
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills

Qualifications & Experience

  • Certificate III/IV in Fitness or similar (highly desirable)
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in the delivery of sport and recreation based training
  • Experience working in a custodial setting (desirable)
  • Intermediate competence and experience in Microsoft Office
  • Intermediate computer literacy
  • First Aid & CPR certification
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence

All candidates will be required to undertake background and probity checks including Reference Checks, a Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check prior to commencement.
