Role Purpose The goal for the Learning and Development Team is to develop a culture emphasising quality, continuous improvement, teamwork and high performance with an ability to handle all Learning and Development matters relating to our volunteer Marshals and Officials, our Competitors, Regions and Clubs.
Reporting to the Officials Pathway Manager, the Volunteer Development Officer will be the first point of contact for all queries relating to Marshals, Officials, Sport Grants, Training events and seminars.
They will also take responsibility for the Recruitment, Retention and Recognition programmes for our volunteer marshals and officials.
Responsibilities Support the Officials Pathway Manager and Club Development Manager to develop and implement effective strategies to recruit, retain and recognise Motorsport UK marshals Work with the Officials Pathway Manager and relevant Committees and Working Groups to ensure the grading schemes are fit for purpose and that resources are in place to support the marshal's journey. Attend virtual and actual events to promote the role of the volunteer and to explain and promote the Marshals Pathway Ensure all Marshals receive regular communications regarding, but not limited to, grading scheme changes, recruitment initiatives and working with fellow volunteers and clubs Manage and maintain the Marshals website and the Marshals Resource Centre on the Motorsport UK website Contribute to and create articles for Revolution Magazine, social media communications and contribute to the Club News monthly publication Ensure any queries, complaints or other issues relating to our marshals are handled efficiently and sensitively Support the Director of Learning & Development with administrative support and budget management for various national and international projects, including making travel arrangements, managing logistical requirements, arranging VISAs, liaising with the FIA and ensuring trainers/clients have all the information they need before each event, maintaining the budget spreadsheet and reporting requirements for each project Organise meetings and materials to support Motorsport UK in their achievement and maintenance of FIA awards such as the Medical and Young Driver Best Practice Awards Perform Secretariat duties for relevant Committees and Working Groups
Hours of Work Working hours are normally between 9.00 am and 5.30 pm and are typically 37.5 hours a week, due to events running at weekends and external visitors on site, we do require flexibility around start and finish times, with the likelihood of working some weekends.
While the majority of the role is office-based, you will be required to attend external meetings or training events, and some evening work for online meetings and seminars is likely.
Knowledge, Core Skills and Experience Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills An understanding of working through Teams, Zoom and other internet-based media Proven ability to drive and administer projects Able to write email, documents and letters in an appropriate style to suit the audience. Accurate work and an eye for detail concerning written and financial work Highly motivated, with an enquiring mind and passion for excellence Confident yet approachable in public-facing environments Small company mindset – hands-on, flexible, love working as part of a team and self-starter (i.e. working on own initiative) An understanding of motorsport, sports governance and volunteering roles would be a distinct advantage.
You will be: Able to liaise and communicate effectively with all staff and our volunteer members Self-motivated and capable of working both independently as well as within a team environment. Collaboration is essential before delivery Methodical and able to produce accurate management information to an agreed timetable Highly adept with both PowerPoint and Excel and conversant with a wide range of project tools from the Microsoft Office 365 suite of products Expected to keep abreast of the motorsport environment, thinking on your feet, and applying yourself accordingly.
