How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…

It’s time to turn the tables, in this role you’ll be the client and your experience in the planning and execution of community infrastructure builds will help us build the future city for people by bringing our brand new, multi-million dollar facilities to life.

City of Melbourne has made a significant investment in community infrastructure over the next twelve months with projects such as the redevelopment of Kensington Community Recreation Centre and Royal Park pavilions, North Melbourne Community Centre precinct planning and various other capital works initiatives across the division.

We are looking for someone who understands the importance of choosing the perfect pool tile, why we reinforce flooring in the functional weights area and take pride in the details, can solve problems and keep a project on track. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to identify needs and will celebrate milestones with the community.

You can bring… (Selection criteria)

  • Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values - accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated project management experience representing the client on projects from inception to completion, within agreed timeframes and budgets.
  • Sound financial management skills, supporting the efficient use of resources in development and delivery of infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and analytical problem solving skills, including the ability to analyse a wide range of service needs to ensure community needs and expectations are met.
  • Highly developed communication, presentation, report writing and research skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems and positively influence others to achieve results in line with the project plan.
  • Demonstrated negotiation, project facilitation and project management experience.
  • Knowledge and well developed skills in contemporary Project Management systems particularly Microsoft Project and literacy in the Microsoft Office suite of product.
  • Experience and understanding of the Aquatic, Recreation and Community Services sector.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in the local government sector and knowledge of local government practices and procedures.
  • Experienced in the delivery of capital works.
