Work for Australia's strategic high performance sporting agency
Exciting, challenging and dynamic work environment
The Australian Institute of Sport is responsible for leading and enabling a united high performance system that supports Australian athletes to achieve podium success. The Sport Strategy and Investment (SS&I) Team is responsible for system and sport-specific data and strategic analysis, to enable NSOs to develop future focussed medal winning performance strategies. The Team assesses the potential of sports to deliver against their strategy to inform the allocation of performance investment, in addition to providing AIS effort, expertise and resources to support priority campaign plans.
As a key member of the Sport Strategy and Performance Team (a part of Sport Strategy & Investment) you will work as part of a wider team of Consultants and the AIS as a whole. You will work with a portfolio of National Sporting Organisations (NSOs), facilitating strong, disciplined, and productive linkages between NSOs and the broader National System and monitor the progress of these relationships and subsequent work in the delivery of high-performance outcomes. This work will include the identification and development of key priority medal and performance campaigns, by ensuring access to high quality, performance-focussed advice that increases the likelihood of achieving and sustaining performance outcomes.
You will also identify gaps within the delivery of NSO high performance plans and facilitate finding solutions. The role is delivered through collaborative engagement with others, facilitating internal and external expertise and resources. Your specific skillset will also be applied to various performance projects across any NSO or setting as required. Are you a high performance professional who is driven by generating better performance outcomes?
Key skills and experience required:
Relevant Degree or higher qualification/s relevant to the role and/or senior level experience in HP sport.
Demonstrated experience of working within a high-performance sport program with the ability to utilise this knowledge and experience in support and empathy with NSOs in identifying appropriate performance solutions.
Strong and adaptable communication skills with the ability to drive network engagement and to gain confidence and respect with internal staff, key NSO and system stakeholders.
Demonstrated success in developing, implementing, and achieving team and project objectives in line with a strategic direction.
Demonstrated capacity to provide timely, compelling, objective, and concise advice to inform executive members and senior management to support decision making.
Note: Across the Team of Advisers, a broad coverage of skills, relevant to the delivery of HP program outcomes, is desired. It is not intended that all members of the team will possess the same skill set (e.g. campaign planning expertise, operational planning), but that across the team a diversity of skills for successful delivery of business area objectives will be recruited.
