About the role
You will be coaching a wide variety of recreational gymnastics classes, from pre-schoolers through to recreational competitive gymnasts (Gymstar). Our curriculum, lesson plans, and in-house training will give you all the guidance and development you need to lead amazing classes for your students.
Construct and implement lesson plans that promote group-teaching methods, combining skill development with fun, physical activity and enhancing the developmental assets aspect of YMCA programs.
Challenge and develop student’s values and attitudes in a respectful and supportive manner.
Assess and upgrade participants
Work anywhere from 2 – 20 hours per week at this gratifying casual job. Available hours are flexible, including mornings, evenings and weekends.
As a Gymnastics Coach with The YMCA will enjoy working in a team-based environment, and have a genuine concern for, and interest in the wellbeing and educational needs of gymnasts. You will be able to engage the gymnasts and parents, as well as continually progress skills, while creating a fun environment with the child's wellbeing as a top priority.
Clear understanding of program philosophy and teaching guidelines
Capacity to choreograph routines for competition gymnasts
Displays understanding & respect to those of different talents and abilities
Ability to plan comprehensively for every class including yearly and term places
Beginner Gymnastics Qualification (Includes Principles of Coaching in Gym for All, Kinder gym, MAG or WAG)
First Aid Certificate
Other Desired Qualifications
Intermediate Gymnastics Qualification
