The Fitzroy Valley Development Officer will be responsible for the Delivery of the Kimberley Active Communities Program in the Fitzroy Valley. We are seeking someone who is flexible, adaptable and a true team player. This role requires a commitment to ensuring consistent service delivery and the ability to connect with young people.
Promote Garnduwa programs and participation within the Fitzroy Valley
Deliver effective communication with key sport and recreation stakeholders within the region, including schools, communities and community recreation officers, sporting organisations, health agencies, NIAA, DLGSCI, Shire, Police, and others as identified.
Maintain effective networking between those groups and communities.
Promote, deliver and govern Auskick, Junior Football, Youth Football and Senior Football in the Fitzroy Valley & provide support to the Youth Hub programs as required.
Develop and provide ongoing support for all Auskick, Junior and Youth football within the Region and ensure that they are meeting minimum standards including female participation, coach and parent education sessions, umpire education, recruitment and positive match day environment governance
Support the delivery of Garnduwa’s Active Community Program in the Fitzroy Valley by providing ongoing support to Community Recreation Officers, Youth Workers, and Community Volunteers in the region. Develop and assist in the development and maintenance of the Fitzroy Valley Community Sport and Recreation Plan particularly after school and school holiday programs.
Promote and deliver Female participation programs in School and community.
Support the delivery of AFL Foundation coaching and umpiring courses in your region and ongoing workshops and development
Support the Kimberley Spirit Talent program and participants in your region
Assist and support senior teams in region that participate in the Central Kimberley Football League
Record and report all data based on football programs run in your region to the RDM
Maintain an effective and close working relationship with other sport and recreational services aiming to jointly plan recreational strategies and share resources to achieve common outcomes.
Support ongoing structured sporting competitions and activities within the region and promote participation by the indigenous community in those competitions.
Aim to reduce the number of young people falling into the “at risk” category by incorporating the delivery of health, education and life skill programs at all times aiming to improve community awareness and opportunities in these areas.
Assist in the development of effective community school links with the aim to increase attendance and retention in schools through effective program implementation and delivery in association with the schools.
Preparation of information as required for Garnduwa promotional activities including newsletters, media articles, web site and reports.
Prepare submissions and reports as required to relevant funding and associated agencies in regard to program delivery, program outcomes and relevant recommendations.
Support in the delivery of all Garnduwa cross regional programs, particularly those held in Fitzroy Crossing
Self-motivated and capable of working independently without supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively with Indigenous people.
Sport and recreation program experience.
AFL football development experience.
A knowledge and understanding of sport and recreation planning.
Proven competency in computer literacy and electronic media along with Social Media comprehension
Proven capability in submission writing and report compilation
Demonstrated competence in managing staff in a team situation and in particular Indigenous staff.
Valid C class motor driver’s licenses
Holds a current Working with Children permit
Capacity to work outside normal working hours
An understanding of Club & School environments within WA Football
Level 1 or 2 Coaching Accreditation or willingness to obtain
Ability to lead and interact confidently with groups of participants and stakeholders
Demonstrative ability to innovate
Excellent written and verbal communications
Demonstrated ability to operate under pressure situations whilst achieving outcomes
A self-motivator, who achieves results autonomously or via team work
Good Customer relationship/communication skills
Understanding of participation pathways in community sports
Leads a healthy and active lifestyle
Athletics development experience
Basketball development experience.
A knowledge of the Fitzroy Valley and the surrounding communities and its people.
Holds a Senior First Aid Certificate
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant sport, social science, youth, health or education field.
