It is an exciting time for tennis in Australia and we have ambitious plans to continue to grow the game from grassroots through to high performance. To do this we are transforming how we deliver tennis, with the aim of offering more opportunities for more players and a greater role for personal coaches in identifying and developing Australia's future talent. We are now looking for a National Tennis Academy Coaches to join the team and help us deliver on these plans.
Based in Brisbane and reporting to the National Tennis Academy Head Coach, you will be responsible for improving individual athlete performance for your assigned athletes in line with the National Tennis Academy philosophy.
You will be 'on-court' with the athlete and personally responsible for the athlete's technical and tactical development. Additionally, you will oversee the coordination of the physical, mental, nutritional, character and well-being elements of the player's program, with support from the Athlete Services team and Dean of Students.
Tour coaches (supervising athletes in active transition to the tour) will be expected to tour as required with groups of assigned athletes (likely to be in the range of 30-35 weeks per year). Coaches assigned to athletes in residence, will be expected to be based in Brisbane and travel with players to camps and tours as required (likely to be 10-15 weeks per year).
In this role you will:
Oversee all aspects of assigned player's development
Set individual benchmarks for assigned athletes
Maintain standards of professionalism and excellence that reflect a high performance culture
Work with the Athlete Services team to ensure a holistic approach to the player's development
Engage the Performance Science team to ensure optimal use of available technology, data and performance analysis
Develop assigned players competitions, tournaments, camps and tours schedule & support delivery as required
Support management of national standards and philosophies
Facilitate integration across the tennis business unit teams within Tennis Australia
What you will bring to this role:
High Performance coaching qualifications or willingness to attain
Proven ability to develop and implement a high performance tennis program
Extensive experience coaching tennis at an elite national or international level
Past playing experience at the elite international level (preferred)
Ability to form professional relationships with athletes, parents and personnel
Demonstrated ability to motivate athletes to expected level of performance
Excellent presentation and communication skills both in one-on-one, group and public speaking environments
Flexibility regarding work schedules and training hours
Alignment with the Tennis values of Excellence, Humility, Collaboration and Imagination
You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
