Job Description

A rare opportunity has become available to become a member of the high performance team travelling to Tokyo for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The Paralympic Games experience is greatly altered due to the global pandemic however, being a member of the Australian Paralympic Team remains a privilege.

Boccia Australia is looking for a team support and care assistant for the high performance boccia athletes representing Australia at the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

As a care assistant you will assist the athletes with basic personal care tasks including but not limited to showering, dressing, feeding, bathroom support and two person lifts. In providing support to the team, you will provide assistance to the team manager and head coach on an ad hoc basis as deemed necessary to support the operations of the team. These tasks may include assistance with travel, accommodation, laundry, meals and transport schedules. As a team member you will assist the team during training and competition whether that be retrieving balls back to the athlete, taking stats in competition or videoing of competition.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a caring and supportive attitude, good communication, a strong work ethic, initiative and an ability to work as part of a team. While previous caring experience is not essential, a willingness to undertake these taskes and learn is.  

This role is voluntary. A daily honorarium in addition to all travel expenses including flights, on ground transport, meals, share accommodation, uniforms and travel insurance will be provided. 

Your minimum time commitment to this role is 20 August through to 22 September which includes 14 days compulsory hotel quarantine on the return to Australia at the conclussion of the Paralympic Games. 

Essential Requirements

  • First Aid Certificate
  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • Must hold a current passport or is able to attain
  • Must be located in Sydney
