Our vision: A nation swimming.
Our mission: Creating a happier, healthier and more successful nation through swimming.
Our Cause: Every child learns, every community enjoys and every medal inspires.
Swim England is striving to create a happier, healthier and more successful nation through swimming and aquatic activity. We strive to inspire everyone to enjoy the water in the way that suits them. As the recognised national governing body for swimming, artistic swimming, diving and water polo in England, we help people learn how to swim, enjoy the water safely, and compete in all our sports. Swim England is an incorporated organisation with charitable status.
We are now seeking our next Chairperson to lead and guide the Board, helping us drive forward our vision of a nation swimming. The new Chairperson will share our resolute commitment to enabling a positive bounce back following the pandemic and after a period which, for many, will have been their longest out of the water. The new Chairperson will seize the opportunity to reiterate our mission and, working with the Executive and wider Board, support not only returning members but encourage yet greater, more diverse and inclusive participation in aquatic sports across England.
With strong values based around quality, purpose, togetherness, fun and resourcefulness, we are looking to connect with inclusive and inspirational leaders who will be proud advocates and ambassadors for Swim England. With demonstrable strategic acumen, candidates will bring a track record of performance, risk and resources management and will be commercially astute. Offering a collaborative leadership style, they will be proactive in considering the views and needs of others, providing inspiration, support, and constructive challenge to effectively evaluate and promote consensus. Innovative and ambitious, the Chairperson will enable continued excellence, leading best practice across the sector. They will show deep appreciation of all stakeholders and bring balanced judgement and expert analytical skills, celebrating diversity at all times.
The role is voluntary but expenses in line with Swim England’s policies will be reimbursed. The average time commitment is 3 days per month, inclusive of 6-7 board meetings per year with up to a further six days of work per annum. At present, due to the Pandemic, board meetings are being held virtually. Board meetings are usually attended in person at the head office: SportPark, Loughborough University Campus, Loughborough, Leicestershire.
