Job Description

Casual Soft Tissue Therapist
Therapydd Meinwe Meddal Achlysurol
Department: Institute
Salary: Hourly rate: £17.12
Working hours: Zero hours contract

Who we are

Sport Wales is the national organisation responsible for developing and promoting sport and physical activity in Wales. We are the main adviser on sporting matters to the Welsh Government and are responsible for distributing National Lottery funds. We aim to not only improve the level of sports participation at grassroots level but also provide our aspiring athletes with the support required to compete successfully on the world stage.

We value the diversity of our workforce and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

What you’ll do

We are looking to expand our casual Soft Tissue Therapy staff to provide ad-hoc cover at Sport Wales Institute in Cardiff, as well as directly for our NGB partners as required.

You will be supporting programmes and athletes from Olympic and Paralympic sports on the World Class Performance Pathway, as well as funded athletes from Commonwealth sports based within Wales. This will include developing, implementing, and evaluating soft tissue therapy treatment and rehabilitation programmes that reflect scientific principles related to sporting demands.

The role involves working closely with athletes, coaches and practitioners to build and maintain a high-performance culture within the Sport Wales Institute. Your responsibilities will include working with the Clinical Lead and other Sport Wales coaches and practitioners to continue and progress the service provided by the Medical and Therapies Team. This will require clear and efficient communication.

What you’ll need

You should be a highly motivated individual with a passion for high performance sport and be able to work both alone and as part of a wider interdisciplinary team. You will need to build strong relationships quickly and slot into the team seamlessly.

The ability to be flexible and agile is desirable for this role, particularly where cover may be required at short notice.

We aim to support sports to succeed on the world stage whilst providing a service that focuses on a person-centred approach. We are looking for candidates that can deliver high levels of soft tissue therapy including rehabilitation support whilst maintaining a delivery style that embraces our values of acting with integrity, adding value and encouraging innovation.

If you have the presence and personality to work effectively in a high performing team as well as excellent technical skills, then we would love to hear from you.
