Job Description

Camberwell Grammar School is an independent Anglican day school for boys from Pre-Preparatory to Year 12. This is a Casual ongoing role.

Key Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct gym inductions and provide support and direction in the form of supervision and fitness program creation.
  • Manage the gym and cardio areas under the principles of best and safe practice.
  • Take responsibility for the supervision, instruction, and safety of gym users during open student and staff access, Physical Education curriculum classes and related Sport sessions within the gym space.
  • Encourage maximum participation and uphold standards of respect, inclusion, and positivity.
  • Liaise with Strength and Conditioning Coordinator regarding ongoing standards and processes.
  • Use of attendance and programming applications.

Knowledge & Skills 

  • Experience working with adolescents in the delivery of training/fitness programs
  • Sound knowledge of fitness components and best training practice according to client(s) needs.
  • Previous experience and a thorough understanding of gym operations and equipment maintenance/upkeep
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills when supervising on the gym floor.
  • Understanding of and ability to implement OH&S policies and procedures
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications

Qualifications

  • Certificate III & IV in Fitness
  • Level 1 ASCA Accreditation (Desirable)
  • Appropriate tertiary qualification; Exercise Physiology, Sports Science, Physical Education (Desirable)
  • Level 2 First Aid, and CPR Qualification
  • Working with Children Check
  • Police Check
