Job Description

The role exists to increase the number of junior rugby players in NSW.

The Casual development officers will;

- Work to increase the conversion of participants from School programs into Players at Rugby Clubs
- Support Club and School Rugby programs and events to ensure the best possible rugby environment for players, coaches and volunteers

Success in this role will result in an increased number of players playing rugby Sevens, XV’s and Touch 7s competitions, while developing strong links from schools to Rugby Clubs.

Overview of Tasks

Make contact with and book in schools for recruitment programs such as Get Into Rugby and Touch 7s.
Deliver Rugby recruitment sessions that ensure connection from promotional visits, school programs, gala days and rugby events into local rugby clubs
Liaise with teachers and schools to increase rugby opportunities for students and connections to local rugby clubs.
Liaise with clubs, schools and private providers to promote and assist delivery of from promotional visits, school programs, gala days and rugby events
Keep accurate participation records, tracking all participation and recruitment activities undertaken.
Ensure the rugby environment is safe and promote enjoyment and skill development for new and existing participants.
Contribute to the promotion of rugby by providing appropriate content for NSW Rugby website and social media.
Other duties as determined by the Rugby Development Officer / Manager

Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Values

Current Driver’s Licence and road worthy vehicle required.
Able to work during school hours, with availability on the same days from week to week.
Extremely reliable, on time and thorough.
Knowledge of community participation and sports management specific to Rugby Union.
Confident and effective communication and presentation skills, particularly in front of primary aged children.
Self-starter with proactive attitude. Capacity to work alone or as part of a team.
Operate effectively, efficiently and accurately without supervision.
Willingness to take feedback and react accordingly to improve.

Completed or studying appropriate Tertiary education qualifications preferred (i.e. Teaching, Sport Management/Sport Development).
Accreditation in coaching (any sport, but Rugby preferred) or relevant coaching / playing experience in Rugby.
Current Working With Children Check or willingness / ability to attain.
Current Senior First Aid or willingness / ability to attain. Desirable Experience
Experience in sport, particularly at the grass roots level and as a volunteer.
Teaching / Coaching experience with primary aged children.
Experience in sales / telemarketing.
