About the Role

We have a rare recruitment opportunity for a Full Time/Part Time Head Physiotherapist. This key senior role will aim to minimise the impact of injury of our players and to increase their availability & performance. This position will play an active role on our Football Executive and is also responsible for managing, mentoring and training physiotherapy staff across all programs.

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform detailed assessments and acute injury management
  • Weekly player management to ensure optimal performance
  • Provide advice in the decision-making process regarding Return to Play, player availability and fitness tests
  • Communication with key stakeholders within the football department regarding player status
  • Consult and advise head doctor, high performance manager and rehab manager regarding rehab programs for injured players
  • Provide best practice rehab and injury prevention programs
  • Foster and build relationships with external providers of physiotherapy services

Skills and Attributes

  • A demonstrated understanding of the Australian sporting landscape and experience in the area of sports medicine (AFL is preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Experience in managing multiple tasks and prioritising effectively
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to achieving results for both parties
  • The ability to work as part of a highly collaborative team
  • Demonstrated highly effective interpersonal and communication skills


  • Essential - Bachelor of Physiotherapy
  • Essential – Minimum 10 years post registration experience with specifics of orthopaedic / sports medicine
  • Essential – Master’s degree in Sports Physiotherapy or higher qualification
  • Essential – At least 8-10 years’ experience of providing physiotherapy support to elite sports professionals, preferably within a team environment
