Recreation Programmes Officer

British Cycling’s aim is to transform Britain in to a great cycling nation and within the Recreation Team they are doing this by improving access, delivering programmes and tools to support more people to cycle more often. We now have an exciting new opportunity for an appropriately experienced individual who has a passion for operational planning and delivery.



The role of the Recreation Programmes Officer includes:

Responsiblity for the development and implementation of aspects of the recreational cycling programmes working towards targets set out in the British Cycling Strategy
Responsiblity for communicating development plans and progress against operational delivery milestones to relevant colleagues.
Coordinating seamless introduction of volunteers into the recreational cycling programmes through administering user accounts, processing volunteer agreements, membership, kit and equipment as appropriate.
Day to day effective management/support of remote volunteers and teams of casual workforce across the country to provide efficient, quick and friendly customer service, escalating issues to the Lead Programmes Officers as required.
Offering higher level of support and engagement for our programme's casual workforce.
Supporting the functional development improvements of the Let’s Ride website as directed by the Lead Programmes Officers.
Aiding decision making and support the Education Programme Support Team as and when needed on recreational programme courses.
Responsiblitility for continuously improving all aspects of the recreation programmes through creative thinking.


What you need:

A desire to getting more people cycling more often.
Passionate about providing excellent customer service and volunteer support.
A good level of general education, minimum of 5 GCSE’s or equivalent.
Experience of coordinating distinct elements of large scale projects / programmes.
Experience of working with and managing volunteers or equivalent.
Experience of working in a customer service environment.
Experience of a busy, diverse, target driven working environment.
Well organised and able to prioritise work accordingly using own initiative.
IT Literate- good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases.
