Austin FC joined Major League Soccer in January 2019 as the league’s 27th member club and will officially begin play in MLS in 2021 in a new, state-of-the-art 20,500-seat soccer stadium and public park scheduled to open during Austin FC’s inaugural season.
Austin FC is actively seeking a professional and dependable Director of Safety & Security to develop, implement, and manage safety and security policies, standards, procedures, and plans for all Austin FC matches and Austin FC Stadium events. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high level security protection for the Stadium and St. David’s Performance Center by working with internal organization departments, league consultants, third party groups, law enforcement and public safety agencies in the development and implementation of security strategies and league policies.

In This Role You Will:
Create, manage, and implement plans as it relates to venue/physical security, executive protection, player and coach protection; and
Develop an Emergency Preparedness and Protective Action Plan; and
Conducts internal safety and security training for employees as needed; and
Responsible for staffing assignments for each event as it relates to safety and security including but not limited to: private security, private medical, law enforcement, fire, traffic control, intelligence communities, EMS; and
Handle any escalated issues or emergency situations; and
Conduct risk assessments for each Austin FC and Austin FC Stadium event (including Austin FC’s home and away matches). Work with away venue security team to understand potential threats and coordinate for team personnel, visiting supporters, and any VIPs; and
Develop relationships and maintain communication with MLS, APD, AFD, ROW, AHSEM, FBI, NWS, Constables Office, Sherriff’s Office, TSA, and other related agencies; and
Work closely with Director of Stadium Operations to achieve a balance between security measures and a high level of customer service; and
Create, manage, and adhere to an annual operating budget; and
Responsible for CCTV and user access for the Stadium and St. David’s Performance Center; and
Serve as primary liaison between Austin FC and the MLS Safety and Security Department; and
Remain current with local, regional, national and international events and scale staffing and other protective measures accordingly; and
Maintain certifications and standards for various building and public assembly standards.
Bachelor’s degree or 8 years relevant experience
Experience within the sports and/or entertainment industry a plus
Experience in developing and implementing life safety and incident/emergency plans required
English language proficiency is essential and Spanish/English bilingual skills are a plus
Experience in developing and managing budgets, and analyzing costs
Ability to plan and subsequently meet/exceed budget expectations
Working knowledge of Fire, Life, Safety, EEOC, FLSA, OSHA, and ADA rules and regulations
Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, knowledge of current technologies and commitment to remain up to date with industry best practices
