Salary: £21,000 - £24,500 (based on full-time hours)

We are looking for a passional and inspirational Dance Officer to join our amazing charity which makes a positive impact to the lives of children and young people.

The role involves using the power of dance and physical activity to engage children and young people in both schools and communities.

The Dance Officer role will:

  • Develop programmes and initiatives for children and young people to realise their love for dance within and beyond Education.
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate progressive high quality dance lessons and workshops using a variety of dance styles for primary and secondary students, within schools and communities across South Yorkshire.
  • Develop curriculum plans, schemes of work and assessment centred around the needs of young people.
  • Be responsible for providing practical support to the coaching team, apprentices and volunteers in a mentoring role.
  • Plan and deliver professional development for teachers and coaches through team teaching, mentoring and INSET days.
  • Deliver dance leadership courses to grow our dance leaders of the future.
  • Create a positive inclusive, engaging environment where every child can thrive and develop a love for physical activity.
  • Demonstrate positive behaviour management to get the best out of young people.
  • Deliver engaging extra-curricular dance and movement clubs.
  • Work in collaboration with other creative organisations to develop opportunities for young people to engage in dance schools, performances and further development.
  • Understand the principals of safeguarding, child protection and working with vulnerable young people.

The Dance Officer will demonstrate:

  • A passion for improving the physical health and wellbeing of young people through dance.

  • A positive attitude to work and be a positive role model.

Qualifications and experience:

Essential

  • IDTA/RADA or other relevant dance teaching qualifications.
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience.
  • Experience in delivering dance within an educational setting.
  • Experience of developing and training teachers or other professionals.

Desirable

  • Teaching degree
  • Additional gymnastics, fitness or sports NGB coaching qualification.
  • First Aid.

Key points:

  • The post holder will need to be able to travel and have access to transport.
  • The successful candidate will be subject to DBS check and complete a safeguarding training course.
  • Subject to two satisfactory references.
