Sports Mentor - January start - Minimum pay of £10.77 per hour - Neath
Teaching Personnel are actively seeking a sports mentor to support a 11-19 school in the Bryncoch area, Neath. The school are looking for a sports mentor that can work full-time and start asap. You will be paid £10.77 per hour!
Our partner school are currently seeking someone who can work with a year 9 pupil who is struggling to engage with his peers and build relationships with others. This selected pupil has tendencies to isolate himself during the school day and not interact with class teachers. The school have noticed he has a passion for sports (Football and Rugby) so they are looking for someone who has similar interests to help bring him out of his shell.
Your role will consist of multiple types of support during the school day ranging from one-to-one support for literacy interventions. In addition to that you will be expected to shadow the pupil during his time within mainstream lessons to help explain the work set by the class teacher and ensure he is getting on with his work.
Helping reduce all distractions as well as using sports to find common ground you will be expected to support with PE and sports lessons using alternative education to get the work set completed. The school are offering onsite parking as well as a mentor to have during the placement within the school.
The ideal Mentor -
- Available to work on a full-time basis
- Come from a sports, care or education background
- Can travel to the Cardiff area
- Confident with pressured situations
