Job Description

It is an exciting time for tennis in Australia and we have ambitious plans to grow the game from grassroots through to high performance. To do this we are transforming how we deliver tennis, with the aim of making it more accessible, to more people, more often. To help us achieve our plan we are looking for a Match Play Development Coordinator to join our team on a 6-month, fixed-term basis to play a key role in increasing the capacity and capability for affiliates to deliver quality match play.

Reporting into the Match Play Development Manager you will work closely with schools, tournaments and leagues team to build and implement Tennis QLD’s Match Play Strategy.

In this role you will:

  • Manage and deliver the ‘School’s Competition’ calendar which includes redesigning, communicating and implementing the primary and secondary school team competition pathway
  • Design and implement a new competition for junior high school teams to remove the current gap in the competition offering
  • Work collaboratively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes
  • Perform, collect and analyse participation data and post-event reporting tools to guide development of all tournaments
  • Provide leadership to the Tournament & Competitions Sub-Committees in each region to develop a streamlined approach to calendar construction
  • Build a suite of promotional tools which will help drive entry numbers and an awareness of events
  • Promote Tennis Etiquette through a variety of channels
  • Actively promote and improve the Member Protection & Code of Behaviour
  • Work as the Tournament Direction at a range of different events
  • Act as a contact person for the education and training of various stakeholders on Tennis Australia’s tournament software

What you will bring to this role:

  • An understanding of tournament development, planning and analytical skills
  • An understanding of the school sporting system in QLD
  • Previous experience Tournament Directing
  • Knowledge of community participation in sport including club and volunteer management
  • Excellent administration skills, with strong computer literacy, budgeting skills, analytical skills and report writing experience
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present in both one-on-one and public speaking environments
  • Experience in financial modelling or business advice
  • Experience in Tournament Planner (or other tournament delivery software) and League Manager (or other competition management software) (highly regarded)
  • A current driver’s licence
  • A tertiary qualification in business administration / sports management (highly regarded)
  • You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
