Job Description


We are currently inviting applications for a Golf Course Superintendent position to join our team at Ring of Kerry Golf Course.

 

 

Scope of Responsibilities

 

 

  • Supervising the maintenance of the Golf Course.
  • Supervising the maintenance and repair of construction and maintenance equipment.
  • Supervising the maintenance of the Clubhouse surrounds and course landscaping.
  • Ensuring that the aesthetics of the course is maintained, e.g. no litter, repairs carried out immediately etc.
  • Maintaining open spaces, unused acreage and areas outside the perimeter fence in good condition.
  • Creating and maintaining a sod farm and nursery.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the turfgram management program.
  • Responsible (in conjunction with HR) for recruiting training, evaluating and managing grounds staff and greenkeepers.
  • Responsible for preparing and implementing the annual maintenance/capital expense budget.
  • Responsible for adhering to all company procedures, e.g. purchasing, controls etc.
  • Develop and build good relations with Golf Club Members, Residents and Guests who use the facility.
  • Responsible for preparation of Golf Course for various tournaments.
  • Upkeep and development of tress and wildlife conservation areas on the Estate.
  • Responsible for liaising daily with General Manager ensuring that communication is open and regular.
  • Ensure that you keep up to date with changing trends and technological advances in golf course management.
  • Control, plan and direct and record the safe and effective application of pesticides and fertilizers.
  • Ensure the timely application of water as needed. Carry out routine maintenance and repair of all elements of the irrigation pumps, control system, piping and sprinklers as well as supply lakes throughout the course.
  • Responsible for all aspects of administration for the Golf Course operations – records, work schedules, safety records, accident reports, maintenance reports, stock controls any other administration records or reports needed.
  • At all times practice and work with the safety of staff and guests in mind and work in accordance with the safety manual of Castlemartyr Resort and best industry practice.
  • Be aware of fire safety, the evacuation system and safe handling of fire, in case of emergency.
  • Use initiative whilst carrying out one’s duties so that we provide the best possible product and service to our guests at all times. Always be on the look out for ways to improve our customer’s experience.
  • Work as a team member in a fashion that is both supportive and considerate towards your product. Cooperate fully with other staff and their requirements bearing in mind that proper maintenance ensures the proper running of the estate.
  • To comply with the emergency call out procedures in operation at Castlemartyr Resort to ensure proper cover for the hotel at all times.
  • To comply with all requirements as set out in the Employee Hand Book.
  • Attend training courses as required by management
  • Ensure team members are trained to carry out each task required of them.
  • Carry out any other reasonable requests made by management.
