Job Description

Football West is looking to recruit a Community Participation Officer - Pilbara located in Karratha who is keen to work closely with our regional communities and partners. 

With support from the GM, Football, this role will have the primary responsibility to grow and service the game by offering a wide range of Football activities and programs to the specific and surrounding regions. This includes co-ordination of Football West visits, coach education, talent development programs, school programs, futsal and supporting the acquisition of grant funding for WA regions.

This role is ideal if you are seeking an adventure in regional WA, you want to develop programs and events that bring the Pilbara community closer together through sport.

The successful candidates in this role will be expected to:

  • Continue to develop and coordinate a Regional Training Centre in Karratha.
  • Coordinate all coaching, refereeing and player courses, workshops and other activities for the region, in consultation with Football West metro team.
  • Continue to develop and coordinate a Pilbara Talent Support Program hub.
  • Develop and promote football programs such as Street and Walking Football in Aboriginal communities and the coordination of any school, futsal and other programs as required.
  • Maintain records of participation numbers in programs and other relevant information to assist with securing regional sponsorship and funding agreements.
  • Represent Football West at relevant industry events and partner meetings.
  • Identify funding sources relevant to the Pilbara region and other regional areas as determined.
  • Continue to build on the existing network of stakeholders in the Pilbara region including associations and clubs.

The Right Person

You will be an enthusiastic and proactive individual with the ability to work autonomously. You will have exceptional communication skills and be able to positively represent Football West in regional communities, and also have:

  • Previous experience in a similar sports administration role is highly desirable but not essential
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Basic knowledge of football is essential
  • Experience coaching kids sports programs or experience as a physical education teacher is desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and make sound business decisions
  • Ability to collate, coordinate and organise multiple programs of work to meet stakeholder expectations and strict deadlines
  • Experience working in regional and remote Indigenous communities is desirable
  • Proactive approach to work and willingness to learn new skills
  • A current Working with Children Check 
  • A National Police Clearance
  • A current driver’s license

What's on offer

This is a 12-month fixed term role which will require some time spent working outside of normal 9 to 5 including on weekends. There will be flexibility in how and when hours are worked based on the candidate and the business requirements.

Rental Allowance to support living in Karratha.
