Sunshine Coast Turf Club are seeking an experienced Commercial Finance Manager to join their growing team, based on the Sunshine Coast.

The Sunshine Coast Turf Club is a Thoroughbred Horse Racing and Training Facility; and Function Venue that operates approximately 65 race meetings a year, plus non-raceday events. 

The Commercial Finance Manager will be responsible for the financial management and reporting of the Sunshine Coast Turf Club (SCTC).  This will include, budget planning, financial reporting and supporting the CEO and Management Team with insights and strategic advice while managing the Finance Department.  In addition, the role shall identify and implement systems, policies and processes for the Finance function which will improve financial monitoring, accountability and growth across the SCTC.

Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to: 

  • Work closely with relevant managers to provide analytical support to drive efficiency and financial performance across the company
  • Identify and create new business opportunities
  • In conjunction with the CEO and managers, develop SCTC Strategic and Business Plans 
  • Involvement with negotiations around key commercial contracts 
  • Reviewing and developing operational processes of the business to improve performance and maximise growth 
  • Working with the CEO and Board on Club Master Planning and commercial projects
  •  Oversee and manage the accounting functions of the business including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Budget management and working with Department Managers to achieve targets.
  • Manage the Finance Team with payroll, end of year reporting, reconciliation and reporting obligations
  • Manage the workload and output of the Finance Team to ensure financial processes and records are maintained and delivered in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Develop, implement and monitor appropriate financial systems, procedures and internal controls to support the efficient and effective operation of the Finance function.
  • Preparation of monthly financial and Board reporting.

This full-time position would suit someone that has a passion for Finance and Analytics, paired with a growth mindset to ensure continuous improvement of the SCTC. You will work alongside a supportive Management Team and be rewarded with excellent remuneration, while working on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Experience within the Hospitality or Sports Industry would be highly regarded. 

Key Selection Criteria: 

  • Degree qualified in commerce, business or accounting
  • Commercial Business experience with strong analytical skills 
  • Experience managing the annual audit and preparing financial reports
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software such as Xero
  • Experience in managing accounting, tax and statutory compliance requirements
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience working with multiple stakeholders.
