Job Description

Football NSW is the governing body for Association Football and Futsal in New South Wales (except for the northern regions which are governed by Northern NSW Football) and is a member of the national governing body, Football Australia (FA). 

With over 230,000 registered players, Football NSW is the largest member federation in Australia and the largest State Sporting Organisation. Football NSW governs 32 member-associations and runs several elite semi-professional competitions that are just below the top tier of professional football in Australia, the A-League.

The headquarters of Football NSW are located at Valentine Sport Park. In addition to housing Football NSW staff offices, the venue includes 5 playing fields, lecture rooms, indoor sports hall and 20 metre indoor pool.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Referee Education Coordinator will be required to assist the Referees Education & Development Manager with the successful, effective and efficient management of the Referees and Referee Branches;

  • To assist with the facilitation of efficient education of Referees, Assessors and Branch Coaches by provide better skills through fitness and laws of the game knowledge.
  • To assist the Referees Manager on identifying talented match officials and guide them through the set pathways.
  • To oversee the coordination of training sessions for Referees, Assessors and Branch Coaches.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assist with the active recruitment of new Referees from schools and football associations
  • Assist with the running of Level 3 and 4 Referee course for schools and Referee Branches
  • Assist with the running of Assessor courses for Referee Branches
  • Identify and recommend talented match officials to the Referees Manager
  • Assist with the retention of Referees from branches 
  • Arrange and run monthly training and education sessions for the Referee Academy and the RDP
  • Administer the RDP, State League and Academy programs
  • Provide help and information to Referees and Branches when needed
  • Assist with the production and analysis of NSWPL referee performance reports 
  • Facilitate the statistical information from match inspections of Referees
  • Provide support and input to the weekly teleconference with the NSWPL match officials and assessors.
  • Plus any other functions, as requested by the Head of Football & Strategy or Referees Manager

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must hold a minimum Level 3 Referee qualification
  • Must hold a minimum Level 3 Assessors qualification
  • Experience in delivering education and training sessions
  • Technically competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service
  • Ability to resolve problems and manage disputes
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks within defined time frames
  • Ability to take the initiative and consider ways to further improve refereeing standards across FNSW

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Working with Children Number for paid workers or willingness to obtain
  • Drivers License
  • Flexible work hours will be required including weekend and evening work
  • Ability to undertake domestic travel in delivery of essential job related activities
