Organisation Ealing Trailfinders is a full time progressive professional rugby club, high in the second tier of the RFU Championship League. The club has a strong vision and ambition to win promotion to the Gallagher Premiership and to continue to develop its reputation as a high performing, exciting, prestigious top team within English Rugby.
The club is committed to discovering and developing promising talent in English rugby and creating an exceptional pathway to professional rugby. Opportunities are available from under 16s all the way to finishing University and the Senior Academy. Throughout the pathway the players will have the opportunity to combine education with their rugby, ensuring that they will have qualifications as well as the chance to become a professional rugby player.

The Head Coach will join an exciting program at Ealing Trailfinders and will take a lead role in the identification and development of young players. The Head Coach will work closely with colleagues, local and national stakeholders and across established partnerships including Brunel University to ensure that the player pathways become the best and progressive examples of coach and player development in rugby.
The role requires a passionate and appropriately skilled and experienced individual to lead the Academy coaching towards the aim of producing high calibre first-team players to contribute to the long-term success of Ealing Trailfinders. Applicants will need to demonstrate the highest standards of coaching, professional and personal attributes.
Core Responsibilities • Design, develop and deliver the academy and young player coaching programs that support the player development pathway strategy. • Ensure the delivery of excellent first-class coaching throughout the Academy. • Provide 1 to 1’s throughout the week with academy players to analyse their games for Ealing Trailfinders, Brunel University & loan clubs • Work closely with Ealing Trailfinders to implement similar game plans for the Academy / University • Work with skills coaches to organise sessions throughout the week with relevant players • Deliver skills sessions throughout the week • Ensure the implementation of the appropriate educational/training program for each developing player that suits their individual needs, abilities and aspirations. • Responsible for all coaching documentation surrounding the academy coaching. • Attend all Academy Management Team meetings reporting back all matters relating to the coaching programme • Participate in the recruitment and retention of all Academy players in line with the strategy agreed with the Director of Rugby and Academy Manager. • Take an active role in in the decision-making process with regards to player progression, retention, loan and signing of Academy players • Manage a strong, mutually beneficial working relationship with Brunel University and other organisations to support playing opportunities for Academy players across the pathway. • Work with staff from the EPP and partnership clubs to ensure excellent coaching at all levels • Actively participate in networking opportunities, events, open days and other recruitment, scouting and publicity activities as necessary. • Continue own professional development as agreed with DOR • Ensure the compliance of academy coaching staff to the club’s Safeguarding Policies and Procedures • Work with Academy manager & DOR at all times • Work with the Academy Manager to ensure that all activities are performed within the agreed Academy budgets on a monthly basis.
Requirements • Level 3 Coaching Certificate (or working towards) • Full UK driving license • Knowledge and understanding of player pathways • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain and present information clearly • Innovative • Able to both lead and be part of a team • Self-Motivated • Reliable and trustworthy • Strong work ethic
