Purpose of the Position:
To manage the development and delivery of a fully integrated marketing strategy for the channels in conjunction with Senior Manager.

Key Performance Objectives
Operational Delivery

  • Guide the day to day activities of the kykNET marketing team
  • Conduct research analysis and interpretation.
  • Manage creative agencies strictly to brief and contractual deliverables.
  • Manage day-to-day channel brand imaging maintenance with agency, brief in required elements and ensure flighting information is distributed.
  • Initiate Creative Campaigns that will address business objectives.
  • Develop an effective On-Air Promo and cross Promo Scheduling strategy that delivers results.
  • Ensure all promos are rated by Programme Acceptance and processed prior to micro schedule download deadlines.
  • Anticipate reputational threats and device response strategies and manage reputational issues swiftly and efficiently with relevant internal and external parties.
  • Ensure alignment between content initiatives and marketing in your channels.
  • Continuously monitor and report on the success of the marketing and communication plans (ATL, BTL, monitor progress, compliance and report on performance).
  • Prepare and deliver content, marketing and communication plan presentations to various stakeholders as and when required.
  • Support the online and social media strategy and ensure set targets are met.
  • Manage the given marketing budget (forecasting, phasing).
  • Ensure effective management and recon of all barters and sponsorships.
  • Manage Channel-owned events and functions
  • Champion Marketing initiatives on local Afrikaans films
  • Cross-business functionality and optimization
  • Manage publicity images and imaging process workflows
  • Represent channel at public events where required.

Stakeholder Management

  • Establish and maintain effective relationship with creative agencies and suppliers.
  • Develop strong relationship with production companies, Talent, Creatives and sponsors.
  • Regular follow up and feedback with critical business partners.
  • Work closely with the content team; enabling them to meet their channel objectives by providing campaigns, events, digital marketing, that meets business results.

People Management

  • Manage a team of kykNET Marketing members to ensure effective delivery of business unit objectives.
  • Develop a high performing team by embedding formal performance development and informal coaching. Encourage frequent knowledge sharing between team members.
  • Determine and analyse development needs for the team and ensure that identified training requirements are budgeted for and executed.
  • Interview and recruit new members of the team, including determining appropriate compensation levels with input from Human Capital.
  • Create effective workforce and recruitment demand plans to ensure that current and future business requirements can be met.
  • Review and update the department’s organisation structure and role description on at least an annual basis to ensure that they are fit for purpose and contain all the accountabilities of each team member.
  • Motivate team members and ensure that their efforts are recognised
  • Approve leave requests for team members and create leave plan to ensure adequate coverage.
  • When required, initiate disciplinary processes for team members calling on support from Human Capital when required.
  • Resolve grievances raised by team members and escalate only if required.
  • Address poor performance of any team member through the formal Performance Improvement programme and ensure that continued poor performance is appropriately dealt with.

Degree in Marketing or equivalent qualification


  • A minimum of 5- 8 years of Marketing/branding, experience
  • Experience in marketing management role for a national brand
  • Budget management experience
  • Knowledge of current and future content trends in multiple markets and platforms
  • Strong Track record of building and cultivating a high functioning, high output-driven team.
  • Equally adept at defining and driving both creative- and operational excellence.
  • Understand how to drive high-quality creative work at scale.
  • Proficiency in Afrikaans language
