Job Description

Interview date10 June 2022Job DescriptionAbout Us
British Canoeing is the UK Governing Body for Paddlesports. We have had many advances in our sport and canoeing now covers a wide range of interests and passions as a sport and a leisure activity for all. We want to support and provide opportunities for everyone to enjoy and realise their potential within all aspects of canoeing regardless of their age, background or ability.

The Canoe Foundation is a UK wide charity. It raises money for, and directly funds, projects across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Foundation supports British Canoeing Clear Access Clear Waters campaign to improve sustainable places to paddle on UK waterways and coastline. The CACW campaign is a campaign for fair, shared, sustainable open access on waterways. Take a look at our Canoe Foundation website here.

The Role
We’re looking for an expert communicator to influence a wider group of stakeholders to promote the work and raise funds for the Canoe Foundation. Access to blue spaces enriches our lives and we are committed to creating great places to paddle while protecting our precious waterway environment.
The Canoe Foundation Fundraising & Marketing Lead is an exciting opportunity to raise awareness for the official charity partner to British Canoeing. This unique role has been created to lead on the coordination of the grant activities of the charity, to generate inward investment and donations, as well as design and manage a marketing campaign.
Proven success in fundraising messaging is essential, as you will play a vital role in engaging local communities and raising funds, helping us continue to create great places to paddle and protect the environment.
The role will work within British Canoeing’s Places to Paddle Team and will be required to bring together colleagues from across many departments. You will integrate and strengthen the impact of the Canoe Foundation within British Canoeing and throughout the paddlesport community.
With significant experience of project management within fundraising or marketing environments, you will ensure the successful alignment and delivery of external-facing activity including supporter communications, social media and events.
Your strong communication and influencing skills will see you navigating a broad group of stakeholders; from potential funders, to clubs, authorities to conservation agencies. You will deploy your analytical expertise to provide meaningful monitoring and evaluation to the Head of Access and Environment and the Board of Trustees.
Join us and you’ll become part of a team that is committed to protecting the environment and enabling more people to access paddlesport.
“In this role I've really enjoyed being able to help facilitate a difference to paddlers across the UK. Putting in place the foundations so the website, branding and social media are all in place ready to be grown, as well as seeing the impact our funding has had at paddling locations across the UK already has been a real highlight. This role really requires a passion for making a difference on top of the skills needed, and the warm, rewarding feeling you get back when you see a project has completed and people are thrilled with the improvements or new structures is really special”. Rebecca, Fundraising & Marketing Officer, Canoe Foundation 2021-April 2022
This role is based at the National Water Sports Centre in the Holme Pierrepont Country Park with hybrid working possible.
