PGA TOUR is seeking a Sales Operations Intern to support THE NORTHERN TRUST, an official PGA TOUR tournament and the premier event of the season-ending FedExCup Playoffs, held August 10 – 16 at TPC Boston in Norton, MA. This internship will support the tournament staff and will play an integral role in the event’s success. This position will give the candidate an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a professional sports organization and live events industry. Candidates should have excellent knowledge of the PGA TOUR and its tournaments and an interest in event marketing and promotions.
Internship Dates: Summer semester; June 1 to August 28, 2020
Hours will increase leading up to and during tournament week
Credit/Compensation: This is a paid internship - $12 an hour; Students may also complete the internship for course credit.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for maintenance of THE NORTHERN TRUST Work Plan & Status Report
Responsible for inventory of THE NORTHERN TRUST storage units
Liaise with Mobile Mini & MOD Space for deliveries of all office trailers & storage containers
Liaise with AFR Furniture Rental on ordering office furniture during tournament
Responsible for setting up of all tournament related office trailers/ work spaces
Operations Support with all partnership activation /onsite activation leading up to and during Championship week including onsite expo spaces & partner hospitality elements (CAD drawing layouts included)
Responsible for inventory control of all TNT sponsors
Assist with managing radio list & ordering tournament radios from Creative Communications
Responsible for golf cart fleet management & distribution & work with Volunteer Cart Chairman on operational layout of all golf cart lots on-site
Secure & manage onsite ATM vendor
Order box truck (15’ – 18’) for storing volunteer uniforms
Oversee practice range golf ball orders through various vendors
Manage, order & maintain all caddie bibs & caddie bib names
Responsible for taking operational photos leading up to and throughout the tournament
Responsible for building TNT Operational photo binder for all vendors
Assist in creating the layout for the tournament credential boards
Responsible for the physical set up and tear down of various tournament events (i.e. moving tables, setting up displays/signage, and moving sponsor products)
Work with the Tournament Services intern to oversee the tournament’s shipping & receiving prior, during, and post tournament. Includes tracking all package deliveries and distributing them to the proper parties.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or currently enrolled as a student
experience in marketing and/or sports management; or relevant coursework for college credit is a plus but not required
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Proven ability to illustrate "self-start" capability
Highly organized, detail-oriented
Superior communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in MS Office, including PowerPoint
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud a plus but not required
Ability to work approximately 30 - 40 hours/week (early mornings, late nights, weekends)
Must take initiative in project management and problem solving
Capacity to address multiple tasks simultaneously and remain composed under pressure
Be comfortable working both in office and on-course environments
Some medium lifting and labor is required
General info/Requirements
Eligible to work in the United States. International applicants must have all visas and employment authorizations prior to the start of internship.
Any employee scheduled to work more than 30 days will be required to successfully complete a drug screen as well as criminal background check.
Applicant is responsible for own food and lodging.
Ability to commute to TPC Boston in Norton, MA
Be able to provide their own housing and reliable transportation

This internship will report to Operations Manager. The candidate will not only support the Operations Manager in a number of tasks and responsibilities listed below but will also assist the entire tournament staff in day-to-day tasks, special events and general tournament operations of the event.
