SUMMARY This role is responsible for the hands-on management of (i) financial analysis, accounting, budgeting and business planning for the NHL’s Technology group and (ii) the analysis and tracking of the NHL’s capital program purchases. In addition, this individual will be a working member of a financial systems implementation team specifically focused on a fixed asset software solution package. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This role will manage one (1) direct report in the facilitation of day-to-day operations which includes, but is not limited to, the oversight and completion of the following functions: Preparing annual budgets and forecasts including the development of any relevant analysis. This role will need to gain an understanding of the Technology group initiatives and projects to effectively manage and analyze their spending. Documenting and tracking of the financial terms and obligations of relevant technology contracts. Overseeing the monthly and annual financial close process, including the approval of any related journal entries and any subsequent analysis for the preparation of P&L reports and variance explanations. Preparation of management reports for department head, board meetings etc. Tracking of all the NHL’s capital purchases including proper categorization to determine asset’s depreciation charge. Prepare financial models for various capital projects. Perform various accounting and control functions for capital projects including tracking expenditures against project budgets. Will be working member of project team focused on implementation of new fixed asset software solution package. Perform ad-hoc assignments, as requested. QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will have an Accounting degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience. Should be technology savvy with demonstrated experience with business planning, financial modeling and software installations. Should have the ability to take initiative on problem solving and effectively manage multiple assignments, priorities and deadlines in a timely, efficient and effective manner, with attention to detail and commitment to a quality work product. Must be a self-motivated and organized individual with strong analytical skills and a demonstrated ability to work independently and “get things done”. Successful candidate will have strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to gather, analyze and understand information and provide suggested solutions. Must have strong interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills, be proficient in Microsoft Office software, especially MS Excel (pivot tables, INDEX and sumif formulas, vlookup, etc.) and can prioritize and work cooperatively and collaboratively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
