Description Rugby Australia (Rugby AU) the governing body of Rugby Union in Australia, is looking for a strong Match Official Manager for the southern states. Working as part of the Match Official Team and reporting to the National Community Match Official Manager – NSW/ACT, the Southern States Match Official Manager, will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the Rugby AU’s Match Officials Strategy in Western Australia, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. The role includes overseeing the implementation of programs developed by Rugby Australia, including coordinating and delivering Match Official education programs that further enhance Rugby education in the following areas: Match Official satisfaction rating in each of the Unions Smart Rugby / Accreditation levels Returning / New referees Closing of Code of Conduct issues pertaining to Referees Responsibilities: Develop strategies to grow participation of Match Officials in WA/Vic/SA/Tas Identification and development of emerging Match Official talent in WA/Vic/SA/Tas Set the strategic direction for and coordinate WA/Vic/SA/Tas Match Official Panels and Regional Development initiatives Represent Rugby AU at national refereeing, Rugby and sporting symposiums as requested Act as the primary point of contact for Match Officials for WA/Vic/SA/Tas. Liaise with WA/Vic/SA/Tas Referee Associations to ensure best practice and compliance with Rugby AU policies Lead and support all volunteer Match Official Education and Match Official Development Staff in WA/Vic/SA/Tas Coordinate implementation of National Talent ID programs in WA/Vic/SA/Tas Coordination and delivery of Rugby AU Match Official courses in WA/Vic/SA/Tas. Liaise with National Community Match Officials Manager – NSW/ACT, to further develop Match Official Education Courses Work with State Union Coach Education staff in WA/Vic/SA/Tas to set course calendar for WA/Vic/SA/Tas Organise all the appropriate course materials for courses Promote courses via website, clubs, schools, development staff In conjunction with WA/Vic/SA/Tas Referee Associations oversee referee coaches, and coordinate referee reviews and selection meetings Manage logistics for all Association meetings, phone hook ups or education seminars Support Match Official activities at various Development Pathways Competitions Coordinate education for School Scholarship Referees in WA/Vic/SA/Tas Initiate and support the implementation of strategies that foster closer relationships between referees, players, coaches, selectors, media and administrators in WA/Vic/SA/Tas Update / maintain accreditation and education details on the national databases – Rugby Learning Centre and Rugby Xplorer Oversee the application and submission process for program funding for the States, including fulfilling any reporting duties If applicable, remain active officiating (or referee coaching) at lower levels within the State Associations. Essential Requirements Appropriate tertiary degree or relevant experience Meet requirements of Working with Children Check Strong communication skills, both written & verbal Ability to develop and deliver presentations and deliver practical programs and projects Demonstrated project management skills, including an ability to analyse, plan, monitor, evaluate and prioritise Ability to initiate, monitor and review projects and activities in line with organisational plans Demonstrated ability to think, plan and mobilize others to act strategically Working knowledge and experience in Rugby Disciplined Budget management experience Previous management experience with a demonstrated ability to maintain relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders Desirable Criteria Match Official experience in a sport Match Official experience in Rugby Union Experience in sport at grass roots level Experience in sport at the High-Performance level Previous position held in local sporting organisation Previous volunteer experience in sport Apply for this role To apply please send your CV and cover letter supporting your application to, specifying which role you are applying for.
