Organisation: Exeter City Football Club Location: Exeter, Devon Type of Contract: Full Time, Permanent Starting Salary: Competitive, to be discussed at interview Job Title: Head of Education & Player Care Department: Academy Education Reporting to: Academy Operations & Performance Manager Exeter City FC are looking to recruit a Head of Education & Player Care to be responsible & accountable for the smooth, efficient & professional operation of all Education & Player Care matters within the Academy. The successful applicant will be required to provide education support for all Academy players, build relationships with external education providers and provide a central point of contact for all safeguarding and welfare concerns within the Academy. Key Tasks: • Ensure all educational requirements of the Scholarship programme are met, liaising with Exeter College to ensure Scholars meet their educational course requirements. • Plan, deliver and assess NVQ for all U18 scholars. • Plan & provide relevant and innovative support/compensatory education lessons for players on day release. • Closely monitor progression of all Academy players with particular focus on players that are part of the hybrid training model at St Luke’s Science & Sports College. • Oversee the school release programme working, closely with the Lead FDP & YDP Coaches, ensuring parents, players & schools are informed of all the relevant information. • Ensure the Academy has up to date school reports for all players uploaded on the PMA. • Plan & organise age appropriate life skill sessions for all Academy players in conjunction with the LFE. • Manage & enhance relations with linked Colleges in a well organised, professional manner. • Target & sit-in on Academy player reviews who are underachieving in their education. • Coordinate & provide regular suitability reviews on living accommodation arrangements for Scholars and trialists. • Ensure DBS checks are carried out on all Academy staff and updated every 3 years. • Liaise with the Senior Safeguarding Lead on Academy safeguarding issues and ensure appropriate Academy staff are aware of issues and/or matters arising. • Ensure Academy safeguarding policies & procedures are up to date. • Play an active role in the planning and delivery of multi-disciplinary in-house CPD. Person Specification: • Qualified Teacher Status/QTLS • Experience working as a teacher within a school or college • FA Welfare Officer • Current (in date) FA DBS check • Current (in date) FA Safeguarding children certificate • FA First Aid qualification • Current full & clean driving licence • Have effective & efficient communication skills at all levels. • Be personable and enthusiastic with a strong work ethic. • Be willing to engage in and undertake Continued Professional Development (CPD). • Positive and enthusiastic outlook towards education, sports psychology and match analysis that will encourage players to do the same. • Ability to work on own initiative, take control where needs, guide & support others.
