NOTTS COUNTY FOOTBALL CLUB – VACANCY JOB TITLE: Head of Academy Recruitment REPORTING TO: Academy Manager CONTRACT: Permanent HOURS OF WORK: Part time ROLE PURPOSE Notts County Football Club is looking to appoint a Head of Academy Recruitment to lead our Category 3 Academy Recruitment Team. The successful postholder will be required to manage the effective and efficient operation of NCFC’s youth recruitment strategy in the 7 – 18 age range, in identifying potential players for the Academy, regionally, nationally and internationally. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Responsible for the organisation, management and delivery of the Club’s policies and procedures for the recruitment of Academy players • Recruits, organises and manages a team of local scouts to support the Academy and Youth Development Programme at all levels • Scout personally and play a full role in identifying and recruiting players • To comply with all scouting protocols implemented by the department and ensure the team under your management do also • Support a team of scouts in the use of modern scouting methods with regards reporting, recording and tracking potential players targets • Organise, brief and monitor the performance of the scouts against the 7 – 21 age range within the club’s recruitment area • Manages Academy recruitment, talent identification and welfare through the co-ordination of lead scouts and their scouting teams • To manage and keep up to date monitoring, tracking, reporting and recommendation procedures for youth players using the Players Elite and PMA software • To ensure player reports cover all dimensions of performance and potential, technical, physical, psychological and social. Monitor these reports and keep key staff updated • Attend meetings and assist in the delivery of in house training to all scouts under your management • Attend meetings as directed by the Academy Manager • Communicate with parents and guardians • Liaise with the Academy Manager and Lead Phase Coaches with regards to the identification and signing of talented youth players and their introduction into the Academy • Liaise with the Academy staff and keep regular reports on the progress of Academy players with regards to retention and release • Ensure contact networks are built, extended and serviced regularly in conjunction with the Academy Manager and Club Heads of Departments • Organise and respond to all communications for trial requests in a professional way befitting of a professional football club • Organise trial games/days as a means for identifying talent • To be part of the Academy Management Team and attend AMT meetings • To be the contact with the Community Trust element of the club working closely to link in the Talent Identification Strategy with particular reference to Advance Centres • Any other scouting requirements as directed by management • To undertake CPD organised by the club and maintain necessary FA in house training TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION • Experience of working in Youth Development • Knowledge and understanding of FA and EFL rules relating to player development and recruitment • FA Talent Identification Award • FA Safeguarding Certificate • Enhanced FA DBS Certificate • Current Emergency Aid Certificate PERSON SPECIFICATION • Motivated, enthusiastic, professional and personable • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal • Effective organisational skills with the ability to multi task • High level of attention to detail and able to maintain high quality and accurate data and information for scouting purposes • Confidentiality and discretion is paramount SPECIFIC SPECIFICATION • A proven record of successfully identifying and recruiting talented young players across all phase of Academy football • Experience of a leadership role in Academy recruitment • Knowledge of the local catchment area and the structure and organisation of club and school football for the recruitment of players • Extensive knowledge and experience of the football industry and regulations governing players and recruitment • Good network of candidates • IT skills and familiarity with EPPP, PMA and scouting databases HOW TO APPLY If you wish to apply for this role please submit a CV and covering letter to Beverley Markland, Human Resources Director by email to before the closing date.
