Founded in 1866, Harlequins is a rugby club that is recognised around the world. Harlequins is currently ranked among the best Premiership rugby clubs in this country and Europe. The Club is a founding member of the RFU and boasts more Presidents than any other club as well as a healthy dose of international players. Success on the pitch demands even more success off it, so the Club is strengthening its Medical staff and is currently recruiting for a full-time Assistant Academy physiotherapist. This is an exciting role for an individual who wants the opportunity to be part of the Medical team and the Club in order to deliver world class performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for the treatment and rehabilitation of academy players (14-18 years). They will also provide pitch side cover for all academy fixtures, tournaments and premiership shield when appropriate. The job will involve evening and some weekend work. This role will be based between our Guildford training ground and our other satellite academy sites. We are looking for a committed, hard-working individual to join our dynamic medical team. We have a comprehensive in-service training programme to accompany the demanding experience of working within this elite sporting environment. Job Title: Assistant Academy Physiotherapist Salary: £ experience dependent Start Date: March 2020 Location: Guildford, Surrey and Twickenham Stoop Contract: Full-time MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES • To appropriately treat and rehabilitate injured PDG players • Manage the provision of appropriate medical cover for PDG, JPDG, DPP. • Manage the medical provision for all U’18, 17 and U’15 League fixtures. • Work closely with coaches and other support staff to ensure the maintenance and / or return to fitness of injured players. • Complete regular player screening and profiling in order to issue specific injury prevention education and prehab plans to players. • Within the rules of professional confidentiality liaise with athletes, parents, coaches and other support staff. • Maintain comprehensive medical notes utilising the RFU Rugby Squad system • Attend the annual RFU medical conference. • Promotion of anti-doping practices in line with IRB recommendations • Complete annual in house and RFU injury audit to monitor injury incidence and epidemiology. KEY ATTRIBUTES Essential • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy with 18months post graduate experience • Member of the CSP and registered physiotherapist with the HCPC • Have completed MSK and Orthopaedic student rotations • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team • Valid first aid certificate Desirable • MSK experience within the NHS setting • Experience working in professional/ elite sport • Completion of the RFU ICIS course • Trained in Acupuncture Behaviours • Leadership – Creates a climate in which people want to do their best; can access each person’s strength and use them to get the best out of the individual.
