National Head Coach – Youth Development Phase

The role:

You will lead a National England Youth Development team overseeing a multidisciplinary team including various other coaches to ensure that a consistent world leading environment and development pathway is created for all players. The National Head Coach – Youth Development role is ultimately responsible for fostering and promoting a cohesive multidisciplinary environment and the development of players, squads, staff and results based upon agreed team objectives from the England development pathway.  You will create a high performance culture promoting an open exchange of views, high levels of challenge and the celebration of success. The team’s personal development will be a passion for you and you’ll ensure their delivery is always on track.

You will lead the overall technical and tactical programme according to the parameters identified in the England DNA and ensuring alignment and optimal utilisation of national coaches and support staff.  You will be responsible for the creation of an outstanding, inspiring performance environment to maximise the probability of success for England players both in and out of camp.

You will develop detailed short, medium and long term plans for all international events with excellent preparation and review phases and you will be an outstanding coach and developer of young players.  You will be responsible for the consistent delivery of all events within the agreed budgets and to the contribution to player reviews and development plans with the Clubs. The selection of players will be in accordance with the England player profiles which you will help shape and play a key role supporting the England Talent Identification programme.

An essential part of the role is the development and maintenance of close, mutually beneficial working relationships with professional clubs through a structured club visit and engagement programme.

The candidate:

You will be an outstanding football coach with a track record of consistent and successful management and development of players, elite coaches and multidisciplinary staff in an Academy or other elite environment.  You will possess an excellent knowledge and experience of working within the EPPP.  Your ability to demonstrate inspirational on and off field delivery using a variety of methods and approaches is a real strength as is your deep knowledge of technical and tactical components of successful team sport strategies, tactics and techniques.

With minimum qualifications of the UEFA A Licence and the FA Advanced Youth Award, you are a member of the Licenced Coaches Club and have strong evidence of continued professional development throughout your career.

You will enjoy building relationships with different groups of people and you can influence internally and externally to achieve your goals.  You will be comfortable translating your vision into goals and deliverables which you take great pride in delivering on and off the pitch in an environment where planning and preparation is important.  Communication will be a stand out strength in all forms, allowing you to get your message across clearly at all times.
