Stoke City Football Club of the English Premier League are recruiting for a full time Academy Sport Psychologist based at our Training Ground Facility at Clayton Wood.
As an Academy Sport Psychologist, you will join a dynamic multi-disciplinary team supporting the development and implementation of the Academy psychology programme. You will be required to provide psychological support and education to individuals and groups (theory and practical) of academy players, coaches, staff and parents.
The ideal candidate will have experience of applying psychological knowledge in an elite sporting environment and be up to date with current literature and research. You will be a highly pro-active individual who is looking to innovate, discuss ideas and offer opinions, with the ability to communicate effectively to a variety of people (e.g. players, coaches, and parents). The successful applicant will be expected to enhance the department and educate stakeholders on key psychological principles relating to how to prepare, train, perform and recover at an elite level of performance.
Reporting to the Head of Academy Sports Science and Athletic Development, you will be qualified to post graduate level in Psychology or Sport Psychology (although BSc Candidates may be considered based upon previous experience). Previous experience in elite level sport providing sport psychology services to athletes and coaches to enhance performance is essential. A good understanding and previous experience of developing resilience in athletes to support performance is also desirable.
The role requires a high degree of flexibility to cover evening and weekend work as required. Owing to the nature of this post a DBS disclosure will be undertaken before a final offer can be made.
